Stuff that matters

When it comes to home decor, everyone has their own tastes and opinions – what you like at your house, your neighbours might not want anywhere near their place.

This has proved to be an issue recently after a woman put a gargoyle statue outside her front door.

One of her neighbour’s had a strong dislike of the statue and wrote the woman a letter telling her that it was “not appropriate” and “not in keeping with the Christmas spirit”.

She recommended that the situation be “rectified” immediately.

So the unnamed woman decided to take her advice and rectify things, but probably not in the way the neighbour had hoped.

She decided to decorate the gargoyle, named Frank, as Santa Claus, with a red hat and white fluffy beard.

Later the woman added more festive decorations including fake snow and a mini Christmas tree.

She also created a Facebook page for Frank, sharing updates on her decorations and any more notes from her neighbour, who she has dubbed “Karen”.

The next message from Karen asked if the woman thought she was funny – which of course, she did.

So she added an Elf on the Shelf to sit on top of Frank and then placed a snowman beside him as well.

The woman decided to add one new item a day, including photos from Die Hard and Home Alone as well as stuffed toy Hippos and plastic animal skeletons she decorated with more Santa hats and Christmas lights.

Unsurprisingly, Karen did not take a liking to any of her new additions.

She branded them “beyond childish” and called her out for “celebrating death”.

The decoration tiff got so heated that eventually, her neighbour decided to report the bizarre Christmas display to the Home Owner’s Association.

The woman says she’s yet to hear from anyone there or at the mayor’s office, where Karen says she has a friend.

But she hasn’t been deterred and in the meantime, she continues to add more decorations to her front porch.

We think it looks pretty fun!
